Cervical screening is an important tool in checking the health of your cervix and looking for Human Papillomavirus (HPV), which a common infection. Usually the virus clears up on its own, however, sometimes it can develop into cancer. Cervical screening allows your doctor to detect HPV infection early on and monitor the infection and intervene if required. Approximately 70% of cervical cancers can be prevented by screening. It is important for your health to get a cervical screening test every 5 years if you are between the ages of 25 - 74 and are sexually active.
