Your medical record is private. Here’s how we protect it, who can see it, and how to access or transfer your information.

Your health record — consultation notes, results, letters and prescriptions — is stored securely and is only accessible to authorised staff of the practice. We handle personal health information in line with Australian privacy law and RACGP standards, and our QPA accreditation is independent confirmation of those systems.
You have the right to access your own health information. Put your request in writing to reception and we’ll arrange it; in some cases your doctor may recommend going through the record together so results and notes are explained in context.
Moving practices? Sign a transfer consent form at your new clinic and they’ll request your file from us. We send a health summary or full record directly to the new practice. We can also upload shared health summaries to My Health Record with your consent — and you control what’s visible there.

Frequently asked questions
Can I get a copy of my medical records?
Yes. You have a legal right to access your health information. Submit a written request at reception; we’ll confirm ID and arrange access or copies, usually within a few weeks.
How do I transfer my file to a new practice?
Sign a records transfer consent form at your new practice. They send it to us, and we forward your health summary or full file directly to them. A private fee may apply — reception can confirm.
Who can see my medical record?
Only authorised staff involved in your care at this practice. We don’t release information to family members, employers or insurers without your written consent, except where the law requires it.
Are my results given over the phone?
Reception can tell you whether your doctor has marked results as normal or needing follow-up, but detailed results are discussed with your doctor, so nothing is misread or taken out of context.
