Travel Vaccinations
Different destinations carry different risks. Book 6 to 8 weeks before you fly and we’ll build a vaccination plan for your exact trip.
- Preventive Care
The itinerary decides the needles
Travel vaccination isn’t one-size-fits-all. Bali and rural Vietnam carry different risks; a week in a resort differs from a month backpacking. Your GP reviews your destinations, activities, trip length and medical history against current health advisories, then recommends exactly what you need — no more, no less.
Common travel vaccines include hepatitis A and B, typhoid, cholera, and more, alongside catching up routine vaccines like tetanus and measles. Some require multiple doses spread over weeks, which is why 6 to 8 weeks’ notice is ideal — though late bookings are still worth making; partial protection beats none.
The consultation covers more than needles: malaria prevention where relevant, traveller’s diarrhoea management, altitude advice, travelling with medications, and a letter for customs if you carry prescription drugs. Travel vaccines are private fees; we’ll quote costs before giving anything.

- Common Questions
Frequently asked questions
When should I see the doctor before travelling?
Ideally 6 to 8 weeks before departure, since some vaccines need multiple doses to build protection. Leaving sooner? Still book — many vaccines give useful protection even at short notice.
Are travel vaccines covered by Medicare?
The vaccines themselves are private fees that vary by type. The consultation may attract a Medicare rebate. We’ll give you exact costs before any vaccine is given.
Do I need malaria tablets?
It depends entirely on where you’re going, the season and what you’re doing there. Your GP will check current risk maps and prescribe prevention only if your route warrants it.
I'm travelling with prescription medication. Anything to arrange?
Yes — carry medications in original packaging and ask your GP for a letter listing them. Some countries restrict common Australian medicines, so raise this at your travel consultation.

I have been a patient at this medical practice since it opened in 2023. The receptionists are wonderful in providing my wife and myself with medical and specialists appointments and the doctors and nurses have been very supportive to both of us. A big thank you to all.Posted on Google![]()
